The independent contractor model has been a popularized model since the growth of Uber and the gig economy. This coaching program solely focuses on the IC model and does not cover the employee business structure. We will go into all of the relevant pieces of information regarding this type of business and what you should be aware of as an owner.

Benefits of the Independent Contractor Model

Some of the benefits of the independent contractor model are the following:

• Cleaners have flexible hours and are only paid for the hours they are working which keeps payroll costs manageable.
• Cleaners are required to bring their own equipment, supplies and transportation to each cleaning which reduces inventory operating costs.
• You are not responsible for covering Contractor’s workers’ compensation benefits, health insurance, Equal Employment Opportunity protections, FICA, unemployment, and other taxes and fees.

Disadvantages of the Independent Contractor Model

Some of the disadvantages of the independent contractor model are the following:

• Can follow dress code but there are no mandatory uniforms (missed branding opportunity)
